10 years empowering concert venues to boost the next generation of European artists
Launched in 2014 with co-funding from the EU, Liveurope supports up-and-coming European artists to play in some of the continent’s best venues and find new fans across borders.
In 2024 alone, we've supported 780 concerts featuring emerging artists from 33 nationalities. This adds up to a total of 5.000 concerts hosted at our iconic venues over the past decade.
We are proud to have contributed to the development of thousands of artists’ careers across Europe, including names such as Altın Gün (NL), MØ (DK), Hania Rani (PL), Inhaler (IE), and Aurora (NO).
Boosting European music diversity
Our financial bonus mechanism encourages music venues to take programming risks and book up-and-coming European acts from unchartered territories before they rise to fame.
This simple and progressive tool has allowed our venues to significantly increase the number of shows with emerging European artists they book each season, broaden the range of European nationalities represented in their programmes, and amplify the circulation of non-English repertoire.
As signatories of the Keychange pledge, we are dedicated to promoting a more inclusive and diverse music scene. In 2024, 48% of the shows we supported showcased gender diversity, and we will continue striving to reach at least 50% in the years ahead.
2024 marks a full recovery
Covid-19, followed by the energy crisis, dealt a major blow to the circulation of European artists. The rise of production costs and growing dominance in the music business by a few large global players make it increasingly challenging for venues to fulfil their role as springboards for the next generation of European acts. Despite the challenges, the Liveurope venues have restored their programming of emerging European non-national artists to pre-pandemic levels, underscoring their commitment to supporting new talent across borders.
84% membership growth in 10 years
Our network of member venues has steadily expanded over the years. Starting with 13 venues in 2014, Liveurope now unites 24 venues (22 full members and 2 honorary members), all committed to bringing more diverse European music to their audiences.
Going forward, we want to continue this expansion, welcoming more concert halls across Europe and consolidate Liveurope as the defining quality label for European concert venues.
As the EU prepares to discuss the future of the Creative Europe programme, they should recognise the societal and economic importance of the music sector and the paramount challenges it faces. For the sector to truly flourish, we need:
