In order to highlight the achievements of the Liveurope cooperation, and following the success of the first edition in 20105, Liveurope and Ancienne Belgique organise a special event coupled with the celebration of “Europe Day” on May 10th. Open to all and free, the night will be dedicated to sharing cultures and discovering new talent.

Jonathan Hill, Head Speechwriter for Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European Commission, will open this exceptional night.

Then Puggy, the most European of Belgian rock bands, do with an exclusive live interview at the ABClub. The band members will speak for the first time in public about their European roots and their experience with performing across Belgian borders. The talk will be followed by a little live surprise for the audience: an exclusive acoustic set!

The talk will be followed by free shows of young European bands in the club: Last Train (France), Indian Askin (Netherlands) and Memória de Peixe (Portgual) will proudly wear their colors! The line-up was curated in cooperation with our network of venues. We let the programmers describe their choices:

“We are psyched to send Last Train out to AB; still bubbling under in Belgium but full of that young exploding energy that will knock the crowd’s socks off. Close cooperation with the other programmers of the Liveurope venues is definitely an opportunity to rising stars like these”
Jean-Michel Bronsin, l’Aéronef, Lille

“Memória de Peixe is a duo of guitar and drums with an extra twist added. Sure, there is rock’n’roll and there is jazz but where does that avant-garde Chick Corea vibe come from? Anyone feeling disappointed after this gig can knock straight on my door!”
Pedro Azevedo, MusicBox, Lisbon

“Indian Askin has a special fiery energy in their performance. They, almost literally, play until there roof is blown off. The band created a massive buzz here in the Netherlands with their first single “Answer” last year.”
Camiel Le Rutte, Melkweg, Amsterdam

The concerts will be free of charge and of access for the public.

“We want to make this moment a symbolic rally for the Brussels audience, including the European expats who live here. Thanks to Liveurope, we want to prove that what brings us together is stronger than the message conveyed by those who want to divide us”, says Dirk De Clippeleir, AB Managing Director.

Similar mini-festivals will take place the same week in other concert venues of the Liveurope network, including in Germany, Portugal and Denmark.

"Such a moment of unity around the European message is a really good signal considering the troubled times we’re going through. Europe needs to keep fighting for its culture and its values, and music can be a good way to do just that”, adds Fabien Miclet, coordinator of the Liveurope platform.

The front of the AB building will be decorated with European colors to mark this occasion.
