Since 2014, Liveurope has been supporting concert venues around Europe to bring more European music diversity to their audiences.
In 2023 alone, the platform has supported a total of 670 concerts with emerging European non-national artists of 33 nationalities. This milestone contributes to a grand total of 4,200 supported concerts across 21 iconic music venues since the platform’s creation.
Liveurope has directly contributed to the development of the careers of thousands of artists from the four corners of Europe, including names like Christine and the Queens (FR), Hania Rani (PL), MØ (DK), James Vincent Mcmorrow (IE), Aurora (NO) and many more.
46% more emerging artists on the road thanks to Liveurope
Prior to joining Liveurope, our members booked on average 22 concerts featuring emerging European non-national artists. In 2023, this figure rose to 32 concerts, representing a 46% increase in the number of European up-and-coming acts performing on our venues’ stages.
Promoting new European talent more challenging than ever
Despite these positive results, the number of Liveurope concerts organised by the venues has still not returned to pre-Covid levels, as the figure below shows. This is line with the findings of the 2021 EY study that predicted the knock-on effects of the pandemic would be felt until 2025.
The inflation crisis in Europe has caused a surge in production costs, adding further pressure on venues that were just beginning to recover from nearly two years of closure. This is triggering ripple effects throughout the entire value chain in the music sector, and has even forced some venues to shut down, like in the case of our Estonian member Sveta.
Promoting new European artists was already significant challenge due to the costs it represents. The recent crises reinforced the need to boost investment in talent development at EU level. With 9 years of experience, Liveurope's financial mechanism has proven to be a well-tested and tried tool to accelerate the path towards recovery.
