In the 2016-2017 concert season, a group of classicaly trained prodigies from Brussels crossed paths with Ancienne Belgique's artistic director to be recruited as one of the venue's annual artists in residence. Throughout the year, the seven piece team collaborated to develop original material, arrangements and interpretations, ranging from origins of black metal to minimalist classical works. Echo Collective very soon became one of the most promising musical projects on the Belgian music scene, quickly garnering international attention through their original arrangement and interpretation of Radiohead's critically acclaimed "Amnesiac" conceptualized and recorded at Brussels' Ancienne Belgique.
This February, three Liveurope venues Palác Akropolis, A38 Ship and Kino Šiška hosted Echo Collective, the musical project that Ancienne Belgique nurtured from their beginnings. This small tour leg is a direct reflection of the potential that cross-border collaboration in music can achieve for the recognition of art in Europe.
